CONTEXT
- Guinness Cameroon S.A (GCSA) is a coordinated Supply and Demand business, and a Wholly owned subsidiary of Diageo. It sits within Diageo Africa (AEM) as the second biggest GUINNESS market. Packaging hall operating with 3 high speed automated packaging lines operating at 1.7 million hectolitres.
- Spirit blending and packaging line with a capacity of 22kbph. Highly driven market where asset care management have a huge impact on Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and company profitability.
- Site undertaking 4x8hr shift, with the three lines operating simultaneously.
- Guinness Cameroon operates across a portfolio of products including Spirits, Stout, Lager, Ready to Drink and non-alcoholic products, and sells roughly 1 300 000hl per annum.
- There is a growing expectation from our consumers and customers in Cameroon for high quality products, service and innovation
PURPOSE
- Control of the entire brewery processes from end to end via Micro analysis and yeast management in accordance with the Micro sampling plan & global beer microbiology manual
- Take an active part in projects and activities related to continuous improvement, autonomous maintenance, and quality controls
- Be an effective team member and standout colleague
- Accountable for delivery of effective and balanced, Quality performance, from micro point of view as per the Manufacturing management system and internal Diageo Requirements
- Ensure 100% compliance to quality standards (Diageo Way of Brewing/ Food safety)
- Ownership in all projects for Microbiology & yeast quality & propagation improvement
- Maintains a safe and organized workplace environment through adherence to safety & Manufacturing Management System standard methodologies
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Phenomenal engagement and interpersonal skills
- Degree in microbiology, Food sciences, biochemistry, or equivalent is a pre-requisite for the role
- Digital literacy (Proficient EXCEL, WORD, PowerPoint with MS)
- Bilingual (English & French) will be an advantage
- Experience of mentor and influencing operators for success
- At least 1 year experience in a micro activities and process environment.
- Typically educated to degree standard in microbiology or science related field or qualified through proven experience
ACCOUNTABILITIES
As Microbiology Analyst:
- Maintains a safe and organised workplace environment through adherence to the Safety and 5S practices
- Sampling and analysis in accordance with micro sampling plans and work procedures, providing accurate and timely results
- Restlessly work for the site to compete with others sites via Micro Ring scheme exercises lead by the Central team.
- Direct communication with our team of microbiologist above market and across Africa with huge opportunities to learn and capitalize and share experience out of site.
- Preparation of media, Yeast propagation, infection monitoring, fighting and control.
- Proactive feedback of quality results to respective stakeholders and follow up corrective actions, supporting Quality improvement activities and initiatives
- Own and fully accountable of Cleaning In Process Master plan implementation, Validation, and compliance across the brewery
- Legionella monitoring
- Environment monitoring as per the ISO standard additional requirements for food industry
