CONTEXT

Guinness Cameroon S.A (GCSA) is an integrated Supply and Demand business, and a wholly owned subsidiary of Diageo. It sits within Diageo Africa (AEM) as the second biggest GUINNESS market. Packaging hall operating with 3 high speed automated packaging lines operating at 1.7 million hectoliters.

Spirit blending and packaging line with a capacity of 22kbph.Highly competitive market where asset care management have a huge impact on Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and company profitability.

Site undertaking 4x8hr shift, with the three lines operating simultaneously. 

Guinness Cameroon operates across a portfolio of products including Spirits, Stout, Lager, Ready to Drink and non-alcoholic products, and sells roughly 1 300 000hl per annum.

PURPOSE

  • Working with the Leadership Teams to deliver on initiatives to transform and improve performance covering CAPEX and Revenue projects as well as significant ways of working enhancements.
  • Brilliant execution of projects, CAPEX and Revenue and ways of working changes, to transform and improve business performance
  • Strong influencing skills required to lead and drive change projects deploying Brilliant Execution principles
  • Stand in the future to create possibilities for today. Ability to identify opportunities to improve asset performance
  • Champion leveraging Manufacturing Excellence techniques and best practice on Management of Change
  • Manage Stakeholders with a strong ability to work cross functionally across all levels of the organization to lead and deliver performance ambition.
  • Ability to Search and Spin ideas from within Diageo and from outside
  • Consistently deliver great performance and role model a winning mind-set to the rest of the Operational Team and with key stakeholders.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Qualifications:

  • Degree is food science, chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, or equivalent is a pre-requisite for the role
  • Brewing qualifications (IBD, VLB, TUM etc…) is a pre-requisite for the role – if you don’t already have it you need to be willing to achieve this qualification
  • Experience or relevant qualifications relating to Lean Manufacturing Manufacturing / Six Sigma / Manufacturing Excellence is desirable
  • The Nebosh Health and Safety qualification is a pre-requisite for the role – if you don’t already have it you need to be willing to achieve this qualification

Experience:

  • Natural leaders with a proven track record in identifying opportunities, developing these through to business case and then successfully delivering and embedding change using effective Project Management techniques
  • Experience in developing effective working relationships with stakeholders and working in partnership with other teams to deliver organisational effectiveness and improved business performance.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in production management.  Ideally in a shift based FMCG manufacturing environment.
  • Proactive structured problem evaluation & solving skills learnt through exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, TPM or Manufacturing excellence.
  • Experience of working in a challenging quality & customer focused FMCG environment.
  • Basic financial awareness, understanding of business drivers, budgeting processes.
  • Standard business (MS Office) and Diageo packages

  • A leader in driving significant cost efficiency by optimizing performance and reducing costs
  • Influence support functions to support their improvement initiatives
